Ask Us A Question

Why do I need a Supra KeySafe™?

For anyone who requires multiple visitors but either cannot or has difficulty getting to the door, the Supra KeySafe™ represents a much safer method of allowing authorised persons entry into your property - no more keys under the mat, no more doors left on the latch and no more issuing lots of keys to relatively unknown people. The Supra KeySafe™ also works hand in hand with community alarms services, providing access in the event of an emergency should the key holder be unavailable - no more Police forced entry.

Can the Supra KeySafe™ be broken into ?

In accordance with our fitting instructions, whenever possible the the Supra KeySafe™ should be fitted covertly - out of sight is out of mind. Remember, for somebody to potentially break into the box, they need to know it's fitted. Assuming an opportunist finds the Supra KeySafe™ and decides to try to get into it, there are basically two ways of opening the box. The first way is by entering the code. As the opportunist won't know the code, before he or she can set about trying to crack the code there is one vital piece of information regarding the code needed before starting

- How many digits are there in the code? Without this information, there is no starting point and because most codes we use during our normal daily activities have 4 digits, i.e. Cash Point Cards, Sky TV PIN numbers, etc. SUPRA UK recommend a 5 or 6 digit code is used for the Supra KeySafe™ - if the opportunist entered every possible 4 digit code into a Supra KeySafe™ that has more than 4 digits programmed, the box would never be accessed.

Having a realistic chance of accessing the box means that he or she would have to enter all of the 1 digit code possibilities, all of the 2 digit code possibilities, all of the 3 digit code possibilities and so on - very laborious and all on the basis that there may be a key inside!

The other way is to knock the box off the wall and then smash it to pieces - not only noisy and time consuming, the opportunist would need tools such as a large hammer and chisel, and as it is an offence in itself being equipped to commit a burglary, most opportunist thieves do not risk carrying around such equipment. An opportunist thief is much more likely to shoulder a door or break a window, accessing and leaving the property in a fraction of the time it would take to overcome a KeySafe™.

Please note that we have never been made aware of a property being broken into as a direct result of having a Supra KeySafe™ fitted - why bother trying to overcome a Supra KeySafe™ when there are clearly much quicker an easier ways of breaking and entering?

What do the Police think about the Supra KeySafe™ ?

The C500 Keysafe™ is the first, and only, Police approved key safe in the UK.

SUPRA UK continue to work closely with crime prevention officers throughout the UK, and have presented the Supra KeySafe™ to many different constabularies.

To date, the crime prevention officers we have met have been very impressed, and hold the Supra KeySafe™ in a high regard when comparing it with traditional methods of managing a key - many constabularies recommend the use of Supra KeySafe™ via neighborhood watch groups and bogus caller initiatives - some actually purchase the Supra KeySafe™

Will a Supra KeySafe™ reduce the security of my property ?

Police statistics suggest a large proportion of burglaries are committed by opportunist thieves, at properties that have less than satisfactory security arrangements.

Leaving a key under the mat or through the letter box tied to a piece of string, or leaving the door on the latch all day to allow visitors access will dramatically increase the vulnerability of both the property and any occupants, as will issuing lots of keys - how can you be sure that someone is not getting duplicate keys cut. Using a Supra KeySafe™ means there is only one key, stored at your property, protected by an access code that is only issued to selected persons.

Should I fit the Supra KeySafe™ by my front door ?

No. It is a common misconception that because the Supra KeySafe™ generally stores the front door key, it has to be mounted next to the front door.

As the Supra KeySafe™ doesn't require a power supply, or doesn't operate the door, it can be located anywhere - meter boxes, bin bays, porches, the side or rear of the property or even bolted to the floor - the options are unlimited.

All the Supra KeySafes™ come complete with a fixing kit and cover - so wherever you choose to site the Supra KeySafe™, always use the recommended fixings to ensure a secure fit, and always fit the cover - it not only protects the keys from rain, it also disguises the box, leaving it looking similar to an electrical junction box.

How easy are the Supra KeySafes to install?

Because the Supra KeySafe™ doesn't require a power supply, or doesn't operate the door, there is no need for an electrician or a carpenter. The box simply bolts to brickwork- anyone that can use a drill and a spanner can fit a Supra KeySafe™. All fitting instructions and masonry screws/dynobolts are supplied.

Please see the installation video guides for information on how to install Supra KeySafes™, located in our video vault:

http://www.keysafe.co.uk/pages/index/id/video_vault

What if somebody who knows the code is no longer authorised to use the Supra KeySafe™?

All Supra KeySafes are supplied un-coded, and you set the code yourself. It is obviously as easy to change the code as it is to set it initially. Because the Supra KeySafe™ is a mechanical device, the code can be changed as many times as you wish.

What are the Supra KeySafe™ covers made from?

The C500 KeySafe™ cover is weather proof, achieving all environmental standards for UV exposure, snow, water and dust, and is designed to clip on and off the product for ease of use.

The classic Supra KeySafe™ is made from Neoprene- the same material as used in the manufacture of wet-suits. It is therefore far more weather resistant than covers made with a rubber composite which over time would perish.

How many potential combinations are there on a Supra KeySafe™ ?

There are 1024 potential codes on the classic range of Supra KeySafes™.

For the new police approved C500 key safe there are 4096.

Supra KeySafes™ feature simultaneous movement of each pair of buttons.

This design feature is patented in order to deter potential lock pickers from trying to access the vault. In addition, each button is conical in shape and centred within a countersunk hole. This latter feature prevents identifiable wear marks suggesting which buttons receive most use.

Please note that Supra UK recommend that between 5-7 digits are used within your code. NEVER use a date of birth or codes which could be guessed.

The Supra KeySafe™ features a passive arming locking facility - what does that mean ?

The Passive Arming Locking facility means that at no time can you leave a Supra KeySafe™ unlocked and open. No need to sroll the digits to keep safe.

For example if you use a brief case lock and do not mix up the numbers the brief case is NEVER locked.

In your product literature you state the Supra KeySafe™ range are of monococ design - what does that mean ?

Monococ = "honeycomb". This gives strong protection to the internal vault

I have moved into a house with a Supra KeySafe™ already fitted. The person who lived here before has sadly passed away and we do not know the code. Please can you help ?

Supra UK Limited do not hold codes for our products. The only way that you will be able to access the unit is via the code, that is the nature of the product. There is NO over-riding code as this is a mechanical product.

Please try contacting any relatives of the former resident as they may have had the Supra KeySafe fitted to allow access for Home Care. Your local Social Services may have the code in their records. You will obviously have to prove ownership of the property for data protection. Good Luck !

I would like to change the code in my Supra KeySafe™ please can you advise how I can do that?

Please view the video in the VIDEO VAULT - which you will find in the news and media section. Should you require a hard copy sending please see the CONTACT US section of this site and send a request for the same.

Is www.keysafe.co.uk secure ?

YES ! - www.keysafe.co.uk is secured by AlphaSSC and the symbol for this can be found at the bottom left on the homepage. This symbol can be clicked on to show a valid Alpha SSC certificate.

What is the best way to open the C500 KeySafe™ when received? Should I pull the clear plastic tab or the black plastic cover?

While the product is not attached to the wall, use the clear plastic tab located on the top of the key safe to open the product. Once the product has been installed the clear plastic tab can be discarded.

If you lose the clear plastic tab, position the screw driver in one of the mounting holes on the back of the key safe, push down on the screwdriver to hold the back of the product firmly in place and pull the black cover away from you. The screwdriver will act as a lever to open the key safe cover.

What should I do if I experience any problems with the product?

If you experience any problems with the product, please contact Supra UK for advice. You will either be asked to send the key safe back to your distributor or to Supra UK if the key safe was purchased directly. The product must be in its original packaging for a replacement C500 KeySafe™ to be distributed. The product is guaranteed for 2 years.

The C500 has LPS approval- What is this?

LPS 1175 has six levels. The levels are graded and represent the attack resistance that a product needs to achieve according to the application, location and risk. The level appropriate for a domestic KeySafe is level 1. The reason for this is that a domestic front door needs to achieve LPS 1175 level 1.

The C500 has achieved LPS 1175 level 1 and is therefore as secure as a domestic front door achieving the same standard.

Does the C500 Keysafe™ have insurance acknowledgement?

Both the C500 and the P500 KeySafe™ has achieved LPS 1175 level 1. This is a security standard equivalent to a domestic front door. The LPS test was devised by security experts including the Association of British Insurers and the Association of Insurance Surveyors.

How can I prevent the code from being changed?

An anti-tamper plate is available to prevent the code sequence being altered. They are available to order, either individually or in bulk, by contacting Supra UK on 01905 770333.

Is there any additional support for setting the code?

A detailed video on the process of setting the code can be viewed online at www.keysafe.co.uk, alternatively, contact Supra UK for further advice.

Can the fitting kit be re-used?

Definitely not. The four heavy-duty masonry screws provided within the C500 and P500 fitting kit cut their own thread in the brickwork on installation, the ability to do this would be degraded on a second use.

A replacement fitting kit can be purchased from:

http://www.keysafe.co.uk/products/view/8828

Is the fitting kit suitable for all substrates?

The fitting kit is designed for use on concrete or house brick, however, if you face a particular challenge such as Granite, Spanish stone, a coated wall etc, please contact Supra UK for advice on alternative, Secured by Design accredited fixings.

If the organisation is faced with a particular challenge, please contact Supra UK for advice on alternative fixings.

Where do I obtain a Torx head screwdriver part?

The Torx head screwdriver part is available from any leading hardware store such as Homebase and B&Q. Alternatively, contact Supra UK on 01905 770333.

Do I need to use a screwdriver for installation or can I just use a drill?

We do not advise using a drill for the whole installation process.

Begin the process using a drill to create the 4 mounting holes. Position the key safe over the mounting holes and use a screwdriver to manually drive the screws directly into the brickwork. Tightening of the screws can be completed using a drill.

For further information on the installation of the C500 and P500 KeySafe™ visit our website www.keysafe.co.uk to view an installation video or contact Supra UK.

I have a classic range Supra KeySafe™ and notice you have your contact sticker on the front cover - why is this ?

The classic Supra KeySafe™ is supplied with a contact sticker on the front of the neoprene cover to assist with all potential enquiries.

Supra pride ourselves on the fact that our Customer Care Team are at hand during working hours to answer ANY queries with regards to our range of products and are happy to promote a contact number in order to make this process easier for our clients and if the office is closed, messages are answered the next working day. Can I use a screwdriver to set the code?

No. Using a screwdriver to turn the arrow heads when selecting a code combination will result in damage to the mechanism and void warranty.

It is always recommended that the code selection is set using the plastic tool provided not a screwdriver.

A replacement platic tool is available on request by contacting Supra UK.
