Ask Us A Question

Why do I need a GE KeySafe™?

For anyone who requires multiple visitors but either cannot or has difficulty getting to the door, the GE KeySafeTM represents a much safer method of allowing authorised persons entry into your property - no more keys under the mat, no more doors left on the latch and no more issuing lots of keys to relatively unknown people. The GE KeySafeTM also works hand in hand with community alarms services, providing access in the event of an emergency should the key holder be unavailable - no more Police forced entry.

Can the GE KeySafe™ be broken into ?

In accordance with our fitting instructions, whenever possible the the GE KeySafeTM should be fitted covertly - out of sight is out of mind. Remember, for somebody to potentially break into the box, they need to know it's fitted. Assuming an opportunist finds the GE KeySafeTM and decides to try to get into it, there are basically two ways of opening the box. The first way is by entering the code. As the opportunist won't know the code, before he or she can set about trying to crack the code there is one vital piece of information regarding the code needed before starting
- How many digits are there in the code? Without this information, there is no starting point and because most codes we use during our normal daily activities have 4 digits, i.e. Cash Point Cards, Sky TV PIN numbers, etc. SUPRA UK recommend a 5 or 6 digit code is used for the GE KeySafeTM - if the opportunist entered every possible 4 digit code into a GE KeySafeTM that has more than 4 digits programmed, the box would never be accessed. Having a realistic chance of accessing the box means that he or she would have to enter all of the 1 digit code possibilities, all of the 2 digit code possibilities, all of the 3 digit code possibilities and so on - very laborious and all on the basis that there may be a key inside! The other way is to knock the box off the wall and then smash it to pieces - not only noisy and time consuming, the opportunist would need tools such as a large hammer and chisel, and as it is an offence in itself being equipped to commit a burglary, most opportunist thieves do not risk carrying around such equipment. An opportunist thief is much more likely to shoulder a door or break a window, accessing and leaving the property in a fraction of the time it would take to overcome a KeySafeTM. Please note that we have never been made aware of a property being broken into as a direct result of having a GE KeySafeTM fitted - why bother trying to overcome a GE KeySafeTM when there are clearly much quicker an easier ways of breaking and entering?

What do the Police think about the GE KeySafe™ ?

SUPRA UK continue to work closely with crime prevention officers throughout the UK, and have presented the GE KeySafeTM to many different constabularies. To date, the crime prevention officers we have met have been very impressed, and hold the GE KeySafeTM in a high regard when comparing it with traditional methods of managing a key - many constabularies recommend the use of GE KeySafeTM via neighborhood watch groups and bogus caller initiatives - some actually purchase the GE KeySafeTM

Will a GE KeySafe™ reduce the security of my property ?

Police statistics suggest a large proportion of burglaries are committed by opportunist thieves, at properties that have less than satisfactory security arrangements. Leaving a key under the mat or through the letter box tied to a piece of string, or leaving the door on the latch all day to allow visitors access will dramatically increase the vulnerability of both the property and any occupants, as will issuing lots of keys - how can you be sure that someone is not getting duplicate keys cut. Using a GE KeySafeTM means there is only one key, stored at your property, protected by an access code that is only issued to selected persons.

Should I fit the GE KeySafe™ by my front door ?

No. It is a common misconception that because the GE KeySafeTM generally stores the front door key, it has to be mounted next to the front door. As the GE KeySafeTM doesn't require a power supply, or doesn't operate the door, it can be located anywhere - meter boxes, bin bays, porches, the side or rear of the property or even bolted to the floor - the options are unlimited. All the GE KeySafes come complete with fixing bolts and a black neoprene cover - so wherever you choose to site the GE KeySafeTM, always use the bolts to ensure a secure fit, and always fit the cover - it not only protects the keys from rain, it also disguises the box, leaving it looking similar to an electrical junction box.

How easy are the GE KeySafes to install ?

Because the GE KeySafeTM doesn't require a power supply, or doesn't operate the door, there is no need for an electrician or a carpenter. The box simply bolts to brickwork- anyone that can use a drill and a spanner can fit a GE KeySafeTM. All fitting instructions and dynobolts are supplied.

Dynobolts expand when tightened to provide 1200llbs of pressure on each bolt.

What if somebody who knows the code is no longer authorised to use the GE KeySafe™?

All GE KeySafes are supplied un-coded, and you set the code yourself. It is obviously as easy to change the code as it is to set it initially. Because the GE KeySafeTM is a mechanical device, the code can be changed as many times as you wish.

What are the GE KeySafe™ covers made from ?

Neoprene- it is the same material as used in the manufacture of wet-suits and is therefore far more weather resistant than covers made with a rubber composite which over time would perish.

How many potential combinations are there on a GE KeySafe™ ?

1024 potential codes. Please note that Supra UK recommend that between 5-7 digits are used within your code. NEVER use a date of birth or codes which could be guessed.

The GE KeySafeTM features simultaneous movement of each pair of buttons.

This design feature is patented in order to deter potential lock pickers from trying to access the vault. In addition, each button is conical in shape and centred within a countersunk hole. This latter feature prevents identifiable wear marks suggesting which buttons receive most use.

The GE KeySafe™ features a passive arming locking facility - what does that mean ?

The Passive Arming Locking facility means that at no time can you leave a GE KeySafeTM unlocked and open. No need to sroll the digits to keep safe.

For example if you use a brief case lock and do not mix up the numbers the brief case is NEVER locked.

I have a GE KeySafe™ and notice you have your contact sticker on the front cover - why is this ?

The GE KeySafeTM is supplied with a contact sticker on the front of the neoprene cover to assist with all potential enquiries.

Supra pride ourselves on the fact that our Customer Care Team are at hand during working hours to answer ANY queries with regards to our range of products and are happy to promote a contact number in order to make this process easier for our clients and if the office is closed, messages are answered the next working day ! Not many companies can promote such confidence in its product.

In your product literature you state the GE KeySafe™ range are of monococ design - what does that mean ?

Monococ = "honeycomb". This gives strong protection to the internal vault

I have moved into a house with a GE KeySafe™ already fitted. The person who lived here before has sadly passed away and we do not know the code. Please can you help ?

Supra UK Limited do not hold codes for our products. The only way that you will be able to access the unit is via the code, that is the nature of the product. There is NO over-riding code as this is a mechanical product. Please try contacting any relatives of the former resident as they may have had the GE KeySafe fitted to allow access for Home Care. Your local Social Services may have the code in their records. You will obviously have to prove ownership of the property for data protection. Good Luck !

I would like to change the code in my GE KeySafeTM please can you advise how I can do that?

Please view the video in the VIDEO VAULT - which you will find in the news and media section. Should you require a hard copy sending please see the CONTACT US section of this site and send a request for the same.
